Arsenal haven’t given up hopes of extending their star playmaker Mesut Ozil’s contract.
The 29-year-old has under five months remaining on his contract with the north London based club and is free to discuss terms with European clubs.
Ozil could also end up leaving the club for free in the summer.
However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is confident the Gunners have a chance of reaching an agreement with Ozil over a new deal.
In fact, the French tactician believes a breakthrough in negotiations could come ‘very soon.’

“Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club, hopefully, we will do that very soon,” Arsenal boss Wenger was quoted as saying by Football.London.
When asked how close Arsenal were to agreeing a new deal with Ozil, Wenger stated, “Not close enough to be optimistic and not far enough to be pessimistic.”
Ozil has been in impressive form for the Gunners in recent weeks and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Juve are also understood to be interested in signing the Germany international.
Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday evening when they face relegation battlers Swansea City in the Premier League.
