Steve McManaman Makes Admission Regarding Liverpool Star Emre Can Future During Huddersfield Clash

Liverpool legend Steve McManaman singled out Emre Can for praise after contributing to two goals in the 3-0 victory over Huddersfield at John Smith Stadium on Tuesday night.

McManaman named Can his man of the match and praised the midfielder of Turkish origin.

It was probably little surprise he picked Can considering his opening goal and winning the penalty which Mohamed Salah converted.

“I’m going to go with Emre Can [for man of the match],” McManaman told BT Sport.

“He had a really good game and put in some really good crosses.

“I know it’s been a nice easy game for Liverpool but he’s been really instrumental in a lot of good things that have come Liverpool’s way.”

McManaman did however, have an admission to make regarding Can’s future.

The former Liverpool winger revealed that he does not see the 24-year-old staying at the club beyond the end of the season.

McManaman responded to a question asked on BT Sport during the game whether he thinks Can will stay: “No, I don’t.”

Can will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs a contract extension.

The powerful midfielder has not ruled out staying – or leaving – but he does have interest from the likes of Italian giants Juventus who have made no secret they plan to sign him on a free transfer.

The Germany international now has five goals and three assists in all competitions this season.

Can has equaled last seasons goal tally despite only being in January.
