Diafra Sakho Prevented Crystal Palace Signing Turkey International, Eagles Plot End Of Season Move

Ozan Tufan Fenerbahce Turkey

Crystal Palace were on the verge of signing Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan on Wednesday.

A source close to Fenerbahce revealed to Turkish-Football that Palace had a deal in place over a loan move but that the transfer fell through at the last minute.

Tufan was so close to joining the Eagles that he was preparing to travel to London.

The midfielder’s representatives claim Palace pulled the plug on the deal following injury to Diafra Sakho.

The Eagles had to make emergency plans to sign a replacement striker considering their injury crisis.

Palace ended up signing Alexander Sorloth from Danish side FC Midtjylland for a reported £9m on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

The Eagles have not however, given up efforts to sign Tufan.

The Premier League club will keep talks open over an end of season move and continue scouting the 22-year-old.

The Turkey international finds himself in an awkward predicament as he has burnt bridges with Fenerbahce boss Aykut Kocaman.

The box-to-box midfielder could end up playing in the reserves for the rest of the season unless he resolves his differences with Kocaman.

Tufan has not played a single minute of football in the Yellow Canaries last eight Super Lig games.
