Man City playmaker issues reaction to Arsenal signing £60m Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan has issued a reaction to Arsenal’s transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Gundogan previously played alongside the Gabon international during his spell at Borussia Dortmund.

Both Gundogan and Aubameyang have now made the move from Dortmund to the Premier League. Aubameyang joined Arsenal over the January transfer window for £60 million.

The Man City star has admitted that Arsenal have signed a “very, very good player”.

Gundogan went onto state that he hopes peace is restored at this former club following months of turmoil.

“Dortmund loses a very, very good player,” Gundogan told Sport Bild.

“I very much hope that now peace is restored. Because you need it to be successful in the Bundesliga. All the bickering was certainly not conducive for the performance of the team.

“As a player you get on with it, and if you read any negative things in the paper every day, then it’s a burden. That’s a hindrance to getting full performance.

“I keep my fingers crossed for BVB that the club qualify for the Champions League. It would be nice if I see the boys there again next season.”

Aubameyang scored on his hattrick for Arsenal during their 5-1 victory over Everton last weekend. The Gabon international is expected to be back in action this weekend when Arsenal take on their bitter rivals Tottenham.

Man City meanwhile will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.
