Everton Boss Reveals ‘Algorithm Company’ Were Behind £27m Cenk Tosun Signing

Everton manager Sam Allardyce underlined his faith that they got the £27 million signing of Cenk Tosun from Besiktas right.

Big Sam revealed that he himself, Steve Walsh, the ‘whole scouting system’, the board and interestingly enough an algorithm company all agreed that Tosun was the right man for the club.

Speaking to evertonfc.com, Allardyce said: “Everything we looked at from the club’s point of view – and I am not just talking about me and Steve Walsh – I am talking about the whole scouting system and the board, and the algorithm company we use, everything about it said, ‘yes’ (Tosun will succeed in England).”

Allardyce did decide to start Oumar Niasse over Tosun for the past two games but after last weeks 5-1 defeat to Arsenal perhaps the Turkey international could be in contention for a return.

Niasse has not exactly impressed, taking just two shots over the course of the past two games.

The Toffees manager did admit that Tosun has been struggling to adapt to Premier League football but is adamant the striker will prove his worth to the team.

“It is difficult for him at the moment but it is a difficult league to play in,” said the Blues boss.

“We have to look at the situation in January and say ‘Here you go, can you do it?’.

“That has been difficult for him. But it has been difficult for many players – and even more difficult in January.

“But we needed to try to find more goals and his scoring record was very good.

“We hope in the fullness of time that will be precisely the case and he will show for us exactly what he did at Besiktas.”

The 26-year-old was directly involved in 17 goals for Besiktas before joining Everton.

Tosun scored four times and provided two assists for the Black Eagles in the Champions League, helping his side former side book a place in the Last 16 stage as undefeated Group G leaders.

Everton take on Crystal Palace at Goodison Park on Saturday, Tosun is match fit and will be available.
