Turkish League Previews 22: Huge Test For Basaksehir As The Super Lig Title Race Continues To Narrow

The 22nd round of the 2017-18 Super Lig season is about to kick off.

Our current record for picks stand at 54 wins 42 loss.

Konyaspor vs Besiktas

Konyaspor made a few impressive signings over the winter transfer window, most notably Samuel Eto’o who has hit the ground running. Besiktas have closed the gap with league leaders to just four points but Senol Gunes will have one eye on the Champions League Last 16 clash against Bayern Munich. Expect the Black Eagles to go for the jugular from the getgo, allowing Gunes to rest key players in the second half. That is of course the plan and I do not think the home side will simply roll over. I do however, see Besiktas grinding out a victory.

Prediction: Besiktas Win

Antalyaspor vs Kayserispor

Kayserispor have the perfect oppotunity to return to winning ways and keep pressure on the top four against a woeful Antalyaspor side.

Prediction: Kayserispor -0 (Draw No Bet)

Sivasspor vs Osmanlispor

I do not see Sivasspor losing at home until the deep freeze is over. Bad luck Osmanlispor.

Prediction: Sivasspor Win

Fenerbahce vs Alanyaspor

Fenerbahce made light work of Basaksehir in a game they were expected to struggle in. The Yellow Canaries meanwhile, managed to draw against Genclerbirligi at home. The Istanbul giants struggle to break downside who park the bus. I see Alanyaspor trying to park the bus but with their defence I see the bus breaking down. Still I do not expect to witness a high scoring affair.

Prediction: Under 2.5

Bursaspor vs Malatyaspor

Two out of form sides. Under usual circumstances, I would back Bursaspor and I do expect them to bounce back at some stage but ultimately both sides are too unpredictable right now.

Karabukspor vs Akhisar

Stay well clear of this one.

Trabzonspor vs Basaksehir

Trabzonspor have drawn their last five games despite pretty decent football. The main problem has been goals. The Black Sea Storm have not scored since Burak Yilmaz’s injury a fortnight ago. The good news for the home side is the Turkey international is back. Basaksehir looked like a second-class side against Fenerbahce last week. In fact the Istanbul based side have looked rather shoddy since Arda Turan joined. I do not see Trabzonspor losing at home.

Prediction: Trabzonspor -0 (Draw No Bet)

Kasimpasa vs Galatasaray

Kasimpasa have built up a decent run of form and I expect them to put up a fight against Galatasaray in the Istanbul derby. The Lions have looked a little shaky of late with constant off the field issues arising. I do not however, see the visitors losing. A draw could just be a possibility but a defeat would be a huge shock.

Prediction: Galatasaray -0 (Draw No Bet)

Genclerbirligi vs Goztepe

Genclerbirligi have managed to get themselves out of the drop zone. I am still not entirely convinced by the Ankara based side. Their recent form has resulted in Goztepe being priced favorably. There is value on the visitors not to lose.

Prediction: Goztepe +0.5 (Asian Handicap)
