Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Reveals Why Man United Boss Jose Mourinho Means So Much To Him

Arsenal Team News

Mesut Ozil was closely linked with a move to Manchester United before committing to a new deal with Arsenal.

Ozil turned down the opportunity to work with Jose Mourinho again after playing under his stewardship during his time at Real Madrid.

The playmaker of Turkish origin lifted the La Liga title during his time as a Mourinho player.

Ozil turned a reunion down with Mourinho to stay on with Arsene Wenger but it turns out he still has a lot of respect for the Portuguese manager.

The 29-year-old revealed in his latest interview that he there would not be enough time to fit in everything he has learned from Mourinho.

“I learned so much, you would not be able to fit everything into this interview,” Ozil was quoted as saying in the Fanatik sports newspaper.

“He did everything in his power to make me improve, he always wanted the best for me.”

Mourinho has also spoke favorably about Ozil in the past, once describing him as the greatest No 10 in the world.

“He is the best number 10 in the world,” Mourinho said when Ozil joined Arsenal in 2013.

“He makes things very easy for his team-mates with his football vision and the decisions he makes.”

Ozil became the highest paid player in Arsenal history when he agreed a £350,000 a-week contract extension last month.

The Germany international is now contracted until 2021 at Arsenal.
