Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has revealed his prediction for the Reds clash with Newcastle United this weekend.

The Merseyside based club will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run of form. Liverpool can leapfrog Man United into second place in the League with a win on Saturday.

Newcastle United pulled off a huge upset last month when they registered a 1-0 win over Man United last week.

However, Collymore believes Liverpool will have too much for Newcastle United when the two sides meet at Anfield.

“It’s not just a normal Liverpool vs Newcastle game,” Collymore told Betstars.

“It’s Liverpool versus the man who took them to their fifth European title in Rafa Benitez.

“Looking at when Newcastle United beat Manchester United, it’s clear that Rafa gets his teams up for the biggest games.

“And Rafa will not want to go back to Anfield, see the banner with his name on and just be there as a bit part player. He will want to win.

“Having said that, I think Liverpool are irresistible at home.

“If they get the first goal then it could be a case of pick a number as Newcastle United tend not to score a lot of goals. I’m going to go for Liverpool 3-1 Newcastle.”

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can is available for selection this weekend. The Germany international has been closely linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus this week.
