Man City star playmaker Ilkay Gundogan has revealed that he almost made the move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
During an interview with the Turkish outlet Hurriyet, Gundogan stated that the deal was close to completion but did not disclose why the deal fell through.
Gundogan subsequently joined Manchester City where he has flourished under Pep Guardiola.

“Prior to joining Manchester City I was very close to making the move Barcelona,” Gundogan told the Hurriyet.
“However, it was not meant to be. I am currently exactly where I want to be and am very happy at Man City.”
Gundogan has established himself as a key member of Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven. The 26-year-old started both games against Arsenal in the space of a week.
Man City could end up lifting the Premier League title in April if they maintain their current run of form. The Citizens are back in action this weekend when they take on the reigning Premier League champions Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium.
Gundogan has registered seven assists and scored four goals in 34 appearances for Man City this season.
