Cengiz Under – Roma

The Turkish Dybala, the Ündertaker, Mr Ünderrrated. Cengiz has no shortage of nicknames. One that has caught our attention is ‘Nuovo Salah’ – the new Salah. The 20-year-old was actually brought in as a long-term replacement for the Egyptian international who joined Liverpool over the summer. After initially struggling to settle in, the former Altinordu winger has started to set the league alight. It all started six games ago when he scored his first Roma goal against Verona. It was a brilliant strike but let’s face it… it was Verona. He then netted a brace and provided an assist against Benevento followed by another goal against Udinese.

All well and good but could he do it against tougher opposition? well yes he can! Cengo scored on his Champions League debut against Shakhtar Donetsk last week. He also kick-started Roma’s astonishing comeback against Serie A leaders Napoli with the equalizer.

Cengiz has six goals and an assist in his last six games in all competitions. The rising star has proven he can score against the best. Now he needs to pass his next test. Consistency! he must produce the goods for the rest of the season. If he manages that labeling him the next Salah would be a pretty fair assessment. To be fair he would actually be ahead of where the Liverpool ace was at the same age.

Ilkay Gundogan

Gundogan pulled off the highest number of passes in a single Premier League game since records began (167).

Not content with breaking one record he also managed to have the most touches on the ball ever recorded in the league (181).

Oh and he starred in the side that battered reigning champions Chelsea which saw City extend their lead at the top of the table to 18 points.

Nuff said!

Cenk Tosun

Tosun became the first Turkish international to score a goal for Everton when he opened the scoring against Burnley on Saturday.

After being benched for four-games, he was given a rare start and repaid Big Sam with an early goal. A lovely header actually.

Tosun could easily have had an assist or two had Theo Walcott brought his goal scoring boots to the game.

Alas it turned out to be a disappointing game for the Toffees. Burnley scored twice in the second half to win the game. The Turkey international was subbed off for Oumar Niasse on 70 minutes much to the displeasure of the visiting fans who made their views clear, booing and hurling profanities at Sam Allardyce.

I can see why being an Everton fan is so stressful these days.

Emre Can

Can put in a shift in defence and was brilliant in possession, completing 83 percent of his passes, playing 84 in total including 10 accurate long balls. Liverpool ended up beating Newcastle 2-0 at Anfield and moving into second-place in the league. Jurgen Klopp took a risk starting the midfielder of Turkish origin as he would have been suspended for the Manchester United game next week had he picked up a yellow card. The 24-year-old was on his best behavior and completed the game a yellow card.

It makes you wonder why he would ever want to leave?

Omer Toprak

Mr reliable rarely put a foot wrong making three tackles, an interception and six clearances. Toprak also won two of the aerial duals he was involved in. Dortmund ended up drawing 1-1 away from home against Red Bull Leipzig
