Man United lead race to sign Arsenal star Mesut Ozil according to bookies – Man City and Barcelona also interested

Manchester United are leading the race to sign Arsenal star playmaker Mesut Ozil this summer.

The 29-year-old looked furious following his sides 2-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday afternoon. Ozil was pictured throwing his gloves to the ground and muttering to himself as Arsenal slipped to an embarrassing defeat.

Ozil has subsequently been linked with a move out of club and a potential reunification with Jose Mourinho.

“Mesut Ozil let his frustration slip during Arsenal’s defeat to Brighton this weekend, throwing his gloves to the ground as the Seagulls scored their second goal of the game,” BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion told the Daily Star.

“Odds have now been slashed on the German midfielder joining a Premier League rival.

“Following his outburst on Sunday, Ozil is now priced at 3/1 to join Manchester United, having been as long as 7/1 previously.

“Barcelona are also in the running for Ozil and are the second favourites to sign the Arsenal playmaker, with the Catalan side priced at 4/1 to be Ozil’s next club.

“The 29-year-old would be a useful addition to the Barca side, where he would be a facilitator for Lionel Messi and co.

“Man City are also vying for Ozil’s signature but are priced at a lengthier 7/1 and look likely to miss out to their Manchester rivals.

“Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan round up the market at 10/1 apiece to be Ozil’s next club.”

However, Ozil only recently put pen-to-paper on a mega-money three year deal with Arsenal making him the highest paid player in the clubs history.

The 29-year-old is also understood to be happy with his life in London.

Arsenal currently sit sixth in the Premier League and are 33 points behind leaders Manchester City. The Gunners only realistic chance of playing UEFA Champions League football next season rests on winning the Europa League.

Arsene Wenger’s side face AC Milan on Thursday night at the San Siro.

Ozil has provided seven assists and scored four goals in 24 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so-far this season.
