Man City Reveal Squad Ahead Of Stoke City Clash – Star Striker Ruled Out, David Silva Returns, Gundogan Makes Cut

Manchester City take on Stoke City at the Bet365 stadium in their final Premier League game before a warm-weather training camp in Abu Dhabi.

The training trip will be followed by an international break.

One player who will not be featuring against Stoke is Sergio Aguero who misses the trip with a minor knee injury.

Forward Raheem Sterling and midfielder Fernandinho have made the squad but will have to provide their fitness after recovering from hamstring injuries.

Pep Guardiola will welcome back left-back Fabian Delph from suspension but he is also a doubt after suffering a knock.

Benjamin Mendy has returned to training but is not match fit and will miss the clash.

David Silva has made the squad for the Stoke City game but will not join the squad in Abu Dhabi after being granted compassionate leave by Guardiola to spend more time with his prematurely born son.

“He’s just strong. We’ve said many times family is the most important thing,” Guardiola told reporters.

“He wants to be here but sometimes he needs to go back and see his son – he’s doing well – and his wife. But of course, he knows he has to train. At the beginning it was okay but it’s a long time without training – you cannot play good.

“He trains alone in Valencia when he goes there. For the game against Basle he decided to go to Valencia but he came back on Thursday to train and he will be ready to play against Stoke City.

“When we go to Abu Dhabi he will stay here and in Spain because, again, family is the most important thing.

“Hopefully he can solve [the situation] as soon as possible, his lovely kid can grow and grow back at home and he can stay with us all days.”

Ilkay Gundogan has made the squad for City. The midfielder of Turkish origin has been a regular first-team choice for Guardiola over recent weeks and is likely to keep his place in the side.
