Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Reveals Why He Signed A New Contract Deal & What The Future Holds

Mesut Ozil became the most highly paid player in Arsenal history when he struck a new contract deal with the North London based club.

The playmaker of Turkish origin is now paid £350,000 a-week by the Gunners.

Ozil was closely linked with an Arsenal exit before renewing his deal last month.

The 29-year-old has revealed why he decided to stay on at the Emirates – apart from the huge paycheque.

The 2014 World Cup winner revealed his family played a big role in convincing him to stay and also the fact that he loves living in London helps.

Ozil maintains that he always felt happy at the club despite rumors that he was unsettled.

The Arsenal star also believes the club will go onto win silverware.

“It feels really good,” he told Arsenal Player.

“I’m really happy to sign here for such a big club like Arsenal.

“I’ve always said to the club that I’m happy here and now I’ve signed, I’m really happy.

“My team-mates and family have always supported me. I have a lot of goals here with the team, I want to reach those and I’m really happy.

“I love the city. Before I signed the contract, I spoke with my family about what the best decision was for me. ‘At the end of the day, it was really easy for me to say ‘yes’ to the club.

“I’m here for more years and I hope we will win some titles with the team. I believe in that.”

The Europa League is currently the only silverware on offer for Arsenal this season.

Ozil put on a brilliant display providing two assists in the 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Europa League first-leg tie a the San Siro.

The Germany international is expected to start for the Gunners in the return leg on Thursday.
