Everton Star Vindicates Sam Allardyce After Admitting He Was Out Of Shape

Cenk Tosun was dropped for four games after starting his first time when he joined Everton from Besiktas.

Toffees boss Sam Allardyce revealed that he relegated Tosun to the bench because he was not fit enough.

Allardyce later stated that Tosun’s period on the sidelines benefitted the striker in the long run.

The Turkey international has now scored in his last two games after returning as first-choice striker.

Tosun vindicated Allardyce by admitting he was actually out of shape but that he has worked his socks off to get up to speed.

The 26-year-old underlined that he has been working overtime to get into peak physical fitness and that he is now being rewarded.

“It is two different cultures and it was not easy to settle in here,” Tosun told evertontv.

“But I kept working. We had a winter break [in Dubai]. Before that I was not perfect in my physique.

“But I kept working and now I feel better – physically better and sharper.

“And I will keep working. I work after training as well and that is why I am feeling better now. I enjoy playing for Everton and for this manager.”

Tosun has scored two goals with his last three shots on target.

The Everton star has also created four goals scoring chances in his last two games.

Against Brighton he was involved in 12 duels and had an 80 percent pass accuracy.

The Toffees take on Stoke City next at the Bet365 Stadium, Tosun is match fit and will be likely to start his third successive game.
