Liverpool Team News: Injury Blow As Back Problem Could Be Worse Than Expected For Star Midfielder After Being Forced To Pull Out Of Germany Training

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can was forced to pull out of Germany’s training session today after only 15 minutes because of back problems.

The midfielder of Turkish origin was forced off in the 27th minute and replaced with James Milner in the 5-0 victory over Watford last Saturday.

Joachim Low did still name Can in his Germany squad for their international games against Spain and Brazil.

The Germany international faces a race against time to recover before the Spain clash at Dusseldorf on Friday evening.

BILD journalist Christian Falk tweeted the following.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp did reveal after the Watford game that he does not think the injury is serious.

Klopp said: “He doesn’t think, and I don’t think, it is too serious – but it was too serious to continue.

“He had that problem a little bit during the week; we gave him one day of extra recovery but he thought it would work and he trained normally yesterday.

“It is a muscle thing but it should not be that serious. ‘He will go to the national team I think, and have their treatment.”

Can could end up missing out on the Germany World Cup call-up if he fails to feature in the friendly games.

The midfielder is not currently first-pick in the Low’s midfield setup and will have to prove himself if he hopes to make the final cut.

Can has been in good form for Liverpool this season scoring a career high six-goals.
