Trabzonspor wonder kid Abdulkadir Omur is set to make his Turkey national team debut aged just 18-years-old.
Omur received a call-up from head coach Mircea Lucescu who has spoken highly of the rising star this season.
The attacking midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular for Trabzonspor and is expected to either start or be brought on as a substitute by Lucescu against Ireland on Friday and could be used in the following friendly against Montenegro.
Omur has attracted widespread interest since bursting onto the scene last season.
Arsenal are among several sides keeping close tabs on the youngster.
A source close to Trabzonspor revealed to Turkish-Football that the Gunners, as well as Tottenham, have been scouting the youngster throughout the season.
Former Trabzonspor manager Sadi Tekelioglu spoke openly about Arsenal’s interest last summer.
“Arsenal want to sign Abdulkadir,” Tekelioglu was quoted as saying in the Sun.
“I heard that Atletico Madrid are interested in him as well. But Arsenal are ahead of them in the race to sign Omur.
“Arsene Wenger does a good job when it comes to discovering young players.
“Abdulkadir will be a success when he moves to Europe.”
Omur has two goals and four assists in 24 games this season.
Emre Sarigul of Turkish-Football included Omur in the Guardian newspaper ‘Next Generation 2016: 60 of the best young talents in world football’ list last year.
