Ilkay Gundogan has been talking frankly and openly about where he thinks Manchester City are when compared to the elite clubs.
Gundogan does not believe City are an elite side just yet like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus but that they are on the right path.
The midfielder of Turkish origin underlined that the Citizens have to compete with the clubs he named to join that list.

“We are still on a road – a good way, I think, with the way we play – to come into that elite of clubs in Europe,” Gundogan said in an interview published on the official City website.
“I wouldn’t say we are there. We need to compete with teams like Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus…the biggest teams.”
City won their first piece of silverware under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola recently.
Gundogan was part of the side that lifted the League Cup.
The Manchester based side could however, end up winning more silverware this term.
City are first in the Premier League and it would be a big shock if they did not go onto be crowned champions.
The Champions League is also up for grabs but they will have to find a way past Liverpool in the quarter-finals first.
