Cenk Tosun started both Turkey international games against Ireland and Montenegro.
The bad news is he didn’t score or provide an assist, the good news is he did not pick up an injury.
Tosun started in the 1-0 victory over Ireland, playing up against his Everton teammate Seamus Coleman.
The star striker had a real battle with Coleman for the 64 minutes he was on the field.
There was nothing particularly that really stood out, he put on a decent display but it was a match that lacked intensity.
Turkey will not feature in the 2018 World Cup so head coach Mircea Lucescu has gone back to the drawing board and is still chopping and changing trying to find his optimum setup.
What is clear is that Tosun is likely to be the starman upfront as he also got the nod against Montenegro.
The forward had a few chances to score, caused the opposition all sorts of problems in the box and in the air.
Tosun did not score but his movement pulled defenders out of position giving his teammates more space in the penalty area.
The striker played 76 minutes in the 2-2 draw.
The Everton ace returned to England unscathed, the games were not exactly high-octane. The matches were played at low intensity at a low tempo so Tosun should be pretty much match fit for the Manchester City clash on Saturday.
