Liverpool Expected Lineup Against Man City – Klopp Sweats Over Star Man

Liverpool take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash at Anfield Stadium hoping to keep their unbeaten 12 match streak in the competition alive.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has a few injury doubts heading into the clash.

Midfield

Adam Lallana suffered a hamstring injury during his brief appearance against Crystal Palace on Saturday and will definitely miss out against the Premier League leaders.

Klopp is sweating over the future of Emre Can who missed the Palace game with a back injury.

The midfielder of Turkish origin picked up his injury against Watford before the international break and then missed both German national team games against Spain and Brazil.

Alberto Moreno and Jordan Henderson are both match fit but must be careful as they will incur a one-match ban if they are booked on Wednesday night.

With Can a doubt the midfield trio will likely comprise of Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gini Wijnaldum.

Defence

Klopp received further good news after Nathaniel Clyne made the bench against Palace after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Clyne has not featured this season due to injury but is expected to keep his place on the bench against City with Trent Alexander-Arnold likely to keep his right-place slot.

Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip are both available at center-back so Klopp will have to decide who partners Virgil van Dijk.

Robertson is likely to feature as left-back.

Attack

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both scored in the win against Palace and will almost certainly start alongside Roberto Firmino will do his job in a false-9 role.

City are league leaders but Liverpool are undefeated in their last 17 home matches against the visitors.

Liverpool Expected XI: Karius, Robertson, Van Dijk, Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Oxlde Chamberlain, Mane, Salah, Firmino
