Besiktas face losing Oguzhan Ozyakup on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Ozyakup has just a few months remaining on his contract and will be a free agent unless he signs an extension.

A source close to Besiktas revealed that the club are keen on selling the Turkey international but do not want Arsenal to receive the 25 percent future sale clause they currently hold.

Besiktas are considering employing a risky strategy that involves allowing Ozyakup’s contract to run out before striking a new deal.

The Istanbul giants would in effect be signing the 25-year-old on a free transfer.

The Black Eagles do intend to sell the former Arsenal midfielder and will include a £10.5 million release clause.

The risk is of course that Ozyakup goes back on his unofficial agreement with the club and decides to join another club instead – which he is within his rights to do so.

Turkish-Football have reported both Everton and Newcastle United as being interested in the two time Super Lig winner.

Both sides have been scouting Ozyakup this season and Everton have been in talks with his representatives.

The midfielder left Arsenal five years ago and has gone onto become a star player at Besiktas and for the Turkey national side.

The Netherlands born star is keen on returning to the Premier League after a successful spell in Turkey.
