Turkish League Previews 29: Can Galatasaray Bounce Back Against Title Challengers Basaksehir?

Just five points separate Super Lig leaders Basaksehir from four-placed Fenerbahce with Galatasaray and Basaksehir wedged between in second and third, respectively.

Our current record for picks stands at 73 wins 57 loss.

Akhisar vs Besiktas

Besiktas are on a roll and when they get going they are the team to beat in the league. Akhisar meanwhile have gone on an early holiday. They may decide to raise their game with one of the big boys coming to town but I just can’t see them derailing the reigning champions.

Prediction: Besiktas Win

Kasimpasa vs Karabukspor

Anybody could beat Karabukspor right now.

Prediction: Kasimpasa

Malatyaspor vs Alanyaspor

Way too unpredictable!

Sivasspor vs Fenerbahce

Fenerbahce are still in the title race even though you would not think so given how discontent the fanbase are. Sivasspor away is tough but the Yellow Canaries keep grinding out results. It may not be pretty but it is effective.

Prediction: Fenerbahce Draw No Bet

Kayserispor vs Genclerbirligi

Genclerbirligi beat Galatasaray last week and will be desperate for another win to put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Kayserispor are in a bad patch losing their last three games and there are problems behind the scenes so they are not in a good place right now.

Prediction: Genclerbirligi Draw No Bet

Antalyaspor vs Konyaspor

One word. Avoid!

Goztepe vs Bursaspor

Bursaspor have been perhaps the most disappointing side this season and are hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. Goztepe meanwhile have been one of the big surprise teams this season, rising from the second-tier. The Izmir based side have looked a little wobbly of late but every home game is a big deal for this side.

Prediction: Goztepe Draw No Bet

Galatasaray vs Basaksehir

Galatasaray suffered a shock away defeat to Genclerbirligi last week. The Lions away form has been shoddy all season. In total contrast, they have been unstoppable at home as Trabzonspor found out a fortnight ago. Once upon a time this was not even a derby… but it could end up determining the league title on Sunday. Basaksehir will go five points clear of second-place Galatasaray with a win at the top of the table. The Lions simply cannot afford to lose. A draw meanwhile could see Besiktas go top if they beat Akhisar on virtue of goal difference. There really is everything to play for. The visitors have been absolutely fantastic. Manager Abdullah Avci deserves to have the stadium renamed after him. Can they defeat Galatasaray away? I just don’t see it but a draw? Perhaps!

Prediction: Galatasaray Draw No Bet

Osmanlispor vs Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor have been playing lovely stuff lately. Expect the hottest young talents in the league, Yusuf Yazici, Abdulkadir Omur and Okay Yokuslu to shine.

Prediction: Trabzonspor Win
