Liverpool Team News: Klopp Sweats Over Defence Ahead Of Critical Clash

Liverpool built upon an impressive away win over Manchester City which knocked the Premier League champions out of the Champions League by defeating Bournemouth 3-0 over the weekend.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will be pleased with the result but worried about the state of his defence.

The Merseyside based outfit will take on Roma next in the semi-finals next Tuesday but might be without Dejan Lovren.

The Croatia international defender was replaced by Ragnar Klavan – who only recently recovered from injury – after limping off in the 83rd minute at Anfield.

“I would love if it was because of a knock rather than a strain or tear or whatever,” said Klopp.

“He felt something but I didn’t speak to him afterwards, I only saw that he was limping. I have no clue.”

Klopp is already without defender Joel Matip until the end of the season and Lovren had struck up an impressive partnership with Virgil van Dijk.

There was no injury update for Emre Can who looks like he will almost certainly miss both semi-final legs with a back injury.

Roma meanwhile also have defensive concerns as Kostas Manolas picked up a knock in the goalless draw against Lazio.

Turkey international Cengiz Under provided Manolas with the assist that took Roma through against Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Under has returned from injury and is expected to be match fit against Liverpool.
