AS Roma set to rest wonderkid forward for mid-week Liverpool clash

AS Roma take on SPAL tomorrow in Serie A as they look to secure a top-four finish.

I Giallorossi currently sit in third place with 64 points, just one point above fifth-placed Inter Milan. Roma manager Di Francesco cannot afford to field a weakened with the race for the top-four being so tight.

However, the Italian tactician has stated that he is likely to rest Cengiz Under against SPAL.  Di Francesco is hoping to use the Turkey international’s pace as a weapon against Liverpool next week.

“Cengiz Under’s pace is a vital part of his game so we need to make sure he doesn’t suffer from fatigue when there are so many games,” Di Francesco stated at the pre-game press conference.

“We won’t rest everyone. Lorenzo Pellegrini could well start – I’m undecided between him and another player.”

Under played a major role during Roma’s win over Barcelona despite coming off the bench. The pacy winger provided the assist for Manolas goal which knocked Barcelona out.

The 20-year-old has two assists and seven goals in 27 appearances for AS Roma this season in all competitions.
