Turkish League Previews 34: Galatasaray’s To Lose, Fenerbahce & Basaksehir Remain In The Title Race

Galatasaray, Fenerbahce and Basaksehir head into the final game of the season knowing they could end the day as champions. We take a look at the permutations.

Our current record for picks stands at 89 wins 63 loss.

Goztepe vs Galatasaray

All Galatasaray have to do is avoid defeat and they’ll be crowned champions. Sounds simple right? the only problem is have all seven of their league games on the road this season. To complicate matters further, Goztepe are have the chance to wrap up a 6th place finish which is not bad considering they were promoted this season. There will be a raucous atmosphere. Goztepe have a hardcore following and they like to make their presence felt when the big boys come to town. Could Galatasaray slip up? I don’t see them losing but a draw could be a possibility.

Prediction: Galatasaray Draw No Bet

Basaksehir vs Kasimpasa

Once upon a time Basaksehir were Istanbul minnows, today they are challenging for the league title. Emmanuel Adebayor may actually lift a league title for the first time in his career. The striker has been instrumental for his side this season scoring 13 times and providing two assists.

The Istanbul based outfit will win the league if they win and Galatasaray lost. A runners-up finish would secure Champions League football which would be an incredible achievement in itself.

Kasimpasa will be no pushovers, on the face of it they have nothing to play for but they have won their last two games and have the most in-form player in the league, Trezeguet. With the 23-year-old intent on proving himself ahead of the World Cup and could be one to keep a close eye on.

Prediction: Kasimpasa Draw No Bet

Besiktas vs Sivasspor

The best reigning champions can achieve is a runners-up spot. That may sound like a damp squid but it really isn’t. The difference between the Champions League and Europa League in terms of revenues is huge. Besiktas will be pumped up for this game. They must win while Fenerbahce and Basaksehir must drop points. Now, that may sound like wishful thinking but anyone who has been keeping track of the Super Lig will know to expect the unexpected this season.

Prediction: Besiktas Win

Fenerbahce vs Konyaspor

Fenerbahce must win, hope Galatasaray lose and that Basaksehir drop points if they hope to be crowned champions. It may sound farfetched but this season has been full of surprises. The Yellow Canaries have won their last eight successive games, Konyaspor meanwhile have already ensured league safety. I’d say the visitors have nothing to play for but teams generally raise their game when they face the major Istanbul sides so they may not be total pushovers.

Prediction: Fenerbahce Win
