Liverpool legend John Aldridge has questioned Emre Can’s desire to leave the Merseyside based club.
Can is expected to leave Liverpool this summer when his contract with the club expires. Serie A giants Juventus are understood to have agreed a five-year deal with the 24-year-old midfielder.
However, Aldridge believes Can is taking a step down by moving to Itay.
“Why does he want to leave? Money. Is the Italian league better? No. Juventus are a huge club but Liverpool have won the Champions League more times than them,” John Aldridge told the Liverpool Echo.
“I would question the advice he’s been getting but if he wants to go this summer then go.”
Can recently returned to first-team training after recovering from a back injury he picked up back in March. The 24-year-old travelled with the rest of the squad to the training camp in Marbella.
Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final this weekend. Saturday evening’s clash takes place at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex while kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).
Can played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven this season. The Germany international provided five assists and scored six goals in 37 appearances for Liverpool this season.
