Roma wonderkid Cengiz Under almost joined Manchester City before his move to Italy last summer.
Turkish-Football reported that Under’s representatives had a deal in place with City who planned to loan him out to Freiburg as he would be unable to play in the Premier League due to not having a work permit.
Under has enjoyed an impressive debut season at Roma, scoring eight times and providing two assists in his debut season.
The 20-year-old has been nominated for the Roma young player of the season award.

The Turkey international also scored his first Champions League goal this season in his first start in the competition against Shakhtar Donetsk.
It turns out that Under is still keen on City, on one player in particular anyway.
The rising star revealed that Citizens ace David Silva is his footballing idol.
In a recent interview with BEIN Turkey, Under said: “I rate David Silva, he is my idol, I think he is a great player.”
Silva will turn 33 in January and Turkish-Football understands that Under remains keen on a Premier League move in the future.
Could he be a potential replacement for the Spanish international and end up at the club he so nearly joined last summer?
