Despite making a speedy recovery from a back injury and participating in training with the rest of the Liverpool squad this week, Emre Can may still be omitted from tonight’s 18-man squad.

According to SkySports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp does not want to play Can against Real Madrid despite the Germany international proving his fitness.

Can has been closely linked with a move to Serie A giants Juventus. According to Tuttosport, the 24-year-old will undergo a medical with the Italian champions next week.

“He’s in the squad for the Champions League final but it’s unlikely he’ll make the 18-man squad (for the game itself),” Reporter Kaveh Solhekol said on Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast

“He hasn’t played since March.

“He’s been injured by he’s back fit now and Jurgen Klopp’s decided he doesn’t want to play him.”

Can could end up leaving Liverpool for free this summer after failing to pen a new contract with Liverpool.

Juventus technical director Beppe Marotta recently stated that he is hopeful that Can will confirm a move to the club within the next 10 days.

“I’m optimistic for Juventus; we’ve got a great chance. “The operation will be completed, positively or negatively, within the next 10 days,” Marotta stated.

Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League tonight. The clash will take place at the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex in Kiev while kick-off is scheduled for 19:45 (GMT).
