Liverpool midfielder Emre Can will leave the club at the end of the month as a free agent.
The Reds confirmed Can is headed for an Anfield exit on the official club website.
The midfielder of Turkish origin has been linked with Juventus throughout the season.
Reports in Italy have claimed a deal is imminent for months.
With just days remaining on Can’s contract but he has still not struck a new deal.
Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta told reporters in Milan: “We’re optimistic on Emre Can.
“We can say that the contact with his representatives has started and are going well. We hope we can reach a conclusion in 10 days.”
Just a few weeks ago Marotta said it would all be wrapped up in 10 days.
This is what he had to say at the end of May.
“It’s clear that his] [Can’s position makes him appetising to many clubs,” Marotta stated during a launch of a new Juventus book by La Stampa journalist Antonio Barillà.
“I’m optimistic for Juventus; we’ve got a great chance. The operation will be completed, positively or negatively, within the next 10 days.”
Ten days passed but now Juve are asking for more time.
Can will probably join the Serie A outfit but it is odd that Juventus are taking so long to complete the move.
The 24-year-old is free to join another club as long as he has not signed on the dotted like with the Italian giants.
The midfielder is currently on holiday in Mykanos, Greece.
