‘I Want Arsenal’ – £35m Gunners Target Caglar Soyuncu Confirms He Is Keen On Gunners Move

The Caglar Soyuncu transfer saga took an interesting twist today after the Gunes newspaper made a few revelations.

Soyuncu reportedly told the newspaper that he has an offer from Arsenal, that he wants a Premier League move but that it all depends on Freiburg.

Nothing new there, it is pretty much what we reported a few weeks back after speaking with Soyuncu’s agent.

What caught our eye is that Gunes directly quote Soyuncu saying he wants an Arsenal move.

“It is true, Arsenal have made an offer, I want Arsenal, god willing I will go to Arsenal or the Premier League but it all depends on Freiburg,” Soyuncu told Turkish outlet Gunes.

“I still have another three-years on my contract.

“I received offers from teams in Turkey. I would not be able to give you a name, but I rejected them.

“I will not be returning to Turkey. I want to continue my career in Europe at the biggest clubs.”

Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has scouted Soyuncu since his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Gunners boss Unai Emery is targeting defensive signings this summer and Soyuncu is on Mislintat’s shortlist.

“Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund,” Dogru was recently quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

“He first scouted him back in Germany.”

It is worth underlining that Arsenal are not the only side in talks with Soyuncu.

Dogru made it clear when we last spoke that Mislintat has a long-term interest in his client but that four Premier League sides are in negotiations.

“There are four Premier League sides who’ve made a move for Soyuncu, that we are in talks with,” he added.

The sticking point as far as Arsenal are concerned could be his fee.

Freiburg want in the region of £35 million for the 22-year-old who does have another three-years left on his current deal.
