Silva Wants Croatia Defender At Everton As Ashley Williams Replacement

Everton manager Marco Silva wants Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida next season as the man to replace Ashley Williams long term at the club.

Turkish-Football reported a few days ago that Everton made an enquiry regarding the availability of the powerful centre-back.

Besiktas are willing to sell Vida this summer for the right price.

The Sabah newspaper reported today that Silva is keen on Vida as the man to lead the heart of his defence next season.

Per the source, Besiktas president Fikret Orman wants €15m for the player but could increase his valuation based on Vida’s World Cup form.

Vida starred in Croatia’s 2-0 victory over Croatia and 3-0 win over Argentina.

The 29-year-old has struck up an impressive partnership with Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren.

The article claims West Ham and Fulham are also interested but that Everton are favorites to strike a deal.

The Toffees have built close ties with Besiktas following the transfer of Cenk Tosun in January.

Vida joined Besiktas on a free transfer from Dynamo Kiev in January and does have another four-years remaining on his contract.

The powerful defender scored one goal in 13 Turkish Super Lig appearances for the Black Eagles last season.
