Euro Giants in ‘advanced’ negotiations with Chelsea over out-of-favour midfielder

Fenerbahce are making major changes to their staff and squad ahead of the upcoming 2018/19 season.

According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik, Fenerbahce’s soon-to-be-appointed manager Phillip Cocu has urged club officials to sign Chelsea’s Marco van Ginkel.

We recently reported that Fenerbahce held talks with Chelsea officials over the Netherlands international.

Meanwhile, Fanatik go onto claim that negotiations have reached an ‘advanced’ stage. The Yellow Canaries want to sign Van Ginkel on a year-long loan deal.

Per the source, Cocu has already held a meeting with Fenerbahce’s director of football Damien Comolli and has placed Van Ginkel at the top of his list of summer targets.

Cocu managed Van Ginkel for the past two seasons at PSV and the Dutch midfielder helped his side lift the Eredivisie title.

The 25-year-old is expected to leave Chelsea this summer after failing to break into Antonio Conte’s squad.

Van Ginkel provided five assists and scored 16 goals in 33 appearances for PSV this season.
