Liverpool Boss To Make Wonder-Kid First-Team Player After Striking Five-Year Deal

Turkish-Football recently reported that Rhian Brewster turned down approaches from Arsenal and Tottenham to stay at Liverpool and sign a five-year pro contract deal.

Brewster had been in talks with the Reds for two months prior to the agreement wanting assurances that he would be given playing time next season.

Echo reporter James Pearce is of the view that Jurgen Klopp will make Brewster a first-team player once he recovers from injury and is fit.

Brewster is expected to make a return in late August.

The 18-year-old will be competing with the likes of Solanke and Danny Ings for Firmino’s spot.

“Klopp doesn’t want to block the pathway for Brewster, who will be elevated to the first-team set-up once he’s fit, which is likely to be late August/early September,” Peace said.

“Liverpool are in the market for an attacking midfielder as they still haven’t replaced Philippe Coutinho. However, I’m not aware of Klopp looking to buy a central striker.

“Obviously, Firmino is the No 9 and as it stands he’s got Solanke, Ings and Brewster as back-up. Sturridge is set to leave and Klopp has a decision to make on Origi in pre-season.”

Klopp promoted Brewster to the first-team squad last season but he missed much of the campaign due to injury.

The forward is eligible to represent both Turkey and England at international level due to having a Turkish mother.

Brewster is a member of the England national team youth setup and is likely to keep his place in the side.
