Everton’s £11.5m bid for World Cup star confirmed by prominent journalist

Everton appear to be leading in the race to sign Besiktas star centre-back Domagoj Vida this summer.

TRT Spor’s Besiktas journalist Firat Gunayer confirmed that the Toffees have tabled a £11.5 million bid for the 29-year-old on social media.

Gunayer took to Twitter to reveal that talks between the two clubs are underway.

Everton are one of several Premier League clubs interested in a move for the Croatian defender in recent weeks.

Vida has impressed during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The powerful defender has been one of Croatia’s star performers and managed to hold off the likes of Leo Messi during their 3-0 win over Argentina.

The in-demand defender has been closely linked with a Besiktas exit just six months after joining from Dinamo Kiev for free. Vida has another four-years remaining on his contract with the Black Eagles.

The 29-year-old is expected to start for Croatia this weekend when they take on Denmark in the Round of 16.
