Jack Wilshere has been closely linked with a move to Fenerbahce since announcing his Arsenal exit.

Wilshere left the Gunners after 17 years at the club.

The England midfielder leaves as a free agent after letting his contract run out.

Turkish-Football report that Wilshere has been made an offer from Fenerbahce which he is currently considering.

Former Arsenal player Adrian Clarke has urged the 26-year-old not to go ahead with the move.

Asked about the rumours, Clarke said on Saturday’s World Cup Sportsday on talkSPORT 2: “I’m a little bit angry about this, a little bit upset.

“If Jack chooses to go to Turkish football, it’s not the right decision for his career.

“The one thing he needs to sweep aside when he chooses his next destination is money – he needs to forget about it. He’s got enough money and he will be well paid wherever he goes.

“He has to choose carefully for the sake of his career, but if you go to Turkey you are choosing money.”

Clarke wants Wilshere to join a club like Wolves or Fulham and that a club like Newcastle United would be fantastic.

“I believe he should be targeting a mid-ranking Premier League club that plays the kind of football that suits him – Wolves and Fulham spring to mind, two teams tailor-made for him. I think he would be fantastic at a club like Newcastle as well,” he added.

“I’m not against him going aboard, but if you’re going to do that, then choose a proper league! Choose Spain, Italy or France – the Turkish league is not strong.

“Ok, maybe Jack hasn’t had the offers he expected from other clubs and maybe this is the best on the table, but I doubt it.

“This would be a backward step in his career.

“He won’t get an England recall playing for Fenerbahce.

“Choosing money over your career at this point for Jack Wilshere is daft.”

Fenerbahce are expected Wilshere to make a decision over his future by next week.

The Yellow Canaries are in the midst of a complete overhaul following Ali Koc being elected club president.

The Istanbul based outfit finished last season as Super Lig runners-up and will have to navigate past a trickly Champions League playoff round to make the group stage.
