Liverpool are locked in a race with Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce to sign Colombia international centre-back Yerry Mina.

According to the Turkish newspaper Takvim, the Reds are ‘set to hijack’ the Yellow Canaries attempts to sign the Barcelona defender.

We recently reported that the Reds expressed an interested in the Barcelona star. Fenerbahce were thought to be leading the race to sign Mina this summer.

However, Takvim goes a step further and states Liverpool have tabled a bid for the towering defender.

Per the source, Liverpool are confident of snatching the defender from under the Turkish club’s nose with a late move.

Takvim go onto state that Fenerbahce are hoping to sign Mina on a season-long loan while Liverpool are eyeing a permanent move.

Mina only joined Barcelona back in January however, has made just six appearances for the La Liga giants during the 2017/18 season.

The star defender has attracted the attention of clubs across Europe following a string of impressive performances during the 2018 World Cup. Mina scored against England during their defeat to the Three Lions on penalties.

Per the source, Barcelona are keen to loan Mina out this summer in order to free up a non-EU spot in their squad.
