Jack Wilshere played his entire Arsenal career under the stewardship of Arsene Wenger.

The England midfielder put an end to his 17-year stint at the North London outfit, leaving as a free agent on 1 July 2018.

Former Gunners boss Wenger was full of praise for Wilshere describing him as being a ‘bit of a Messi type’ and a player that reminds him on Kylian Mbappe.

Wenger underlined that injuries have held the 26-year-old back from reaching his potential over the years.

“Jack Wilshere is a playmaker a guy who is a bit of a Messi type,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

“He makes me think about Mbappe because I played him at 17 years of age because he was an exceptional talent.

“Unfortunately, he has been stopped early by big injuries around his ankle. I believe now he comes out of it and is an exceptional footballer.

“He can get past people and give the final ball, has a fantastic football brain and he is a great guy as well.”

Wenger also commented on Wilshere’s potential move to Super Lig giants Fenerbahce.

The French manager believes he would be a great addition for the Istanbul giants.

“When you have gone through what he has gone through you need to be mentally very strong,” he added.

“He can take pressure believe me I would say he would be a creative addition if he goes to Fenerbahce.”

Eren Sarigul of Turkish-Football wrote on Monday that Wilshere is nearing a deal with Fenerbahce for ESPN.

Wilshere has been made an offer by Fenerbahce and but has yet to make a final decision.

The Yellow Canaries finished last season as Super Lig runners-up and will have to navigate past the Champions League playoff round to book a place in the group stage.
