Manager Confirms Everton Transfer, Henry Onyekuru Will Play For Galatasaray Next Season

Galatasaray manager Fatih Terim has confirmed the transfer of Everton forward Henry Onyekuru.

Turkish-Football reported earlier today that the Lions were on the verge of striking an agreement with Everton over Onyekuru.

The Nigerian international will join on a loan move with either an option to extend by an additional season or a buyout clause fee included.

Terim was quoted by Turkish-Football as saying: “We have been keeping tabs on Onyekuru since last season.

“He scored nine goals in 19 games for Anderlecht and played in the Champions League.

“He played as a second forward and behind the striker at times last season.

“I hope our new transfer is a success.

“Everyone will see that the transfer makes financial sense when the details are revealed.”

Galatasaray released a statement on the Istanbul Stock Exchange today confirming talks with Everton were underway over the loan transfer of Onyekuru.

The statement confirmed that the Lions want the striker on a temporary move.

“Official talks with Everton FC are underway regarding the loan transfer of Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru,” the statement read.

The Toffees have to loan Onyekuru this season as he does not have a work permit to play in the Premier League.

Galatasaray finished the 2017-18 season as Super Lig champions.

Onyekuru had also been targeted by rival Istanbul sides Besiktas and Fenerbahce but only Galatasaray were able to offer guaranteed Champions League group stage football.
