“He thinks English” – £26m Everton star striker reveals thoughts on Marco Silva’s pre-season training

Turkey star striker Cenk Tosun has spoken about life under new boss Marco Silva.

Tosun joined Everton from Besiktas in a deal worth £26 million back in January while Sam Allardyce was the manager.

The 27-year-old managed to find his feet in the Premier League following a difficult initial spell and netted five goals in 14 appearances.

Tosun returned to pre-season training earlier this month and is now working under the Portuguese tactician Marco Silva.

The former Besiktas man believes Silva is a European manager with an “English” mindset.

“I had pre-seasons in Germany and in Turkey but this one is harder,” Tosun told Everton’s official website.

“He is a European manager but he thinks English. It feels great to play under him because he is always thinking offensively and it is perfect for a striker.

“I want to keep working hard under him and I’m looking forward to playing the first Premier League game.

“It feels nice to have a full pre-season with Everton. It helps me a lot because we are in every day with the lads. It feels nice.

“I joined in the winter and it was not easy for me. It was difficult to be straight into the Premier League but now with the pre-season, I feel better, my body feels better. We have a hard pre-season but this is important for the league.”

Cenk Tosun was part of the Everton side who thrashed ATV Irdning by an incredible 22-0 scoreline last week. The powerful striker netted four times for his side.

Tosun was also on form for the Turkey national team during their international friendlies earlier this summer.

Everton kick-off their 2018/19 Premier League campaign with a trip down to Birmingham to take on the newly promoted Wolves FC.
