Manchester United offered Trabzonspor £11.6m [€13m] for Yusuf Yazici according to the Haberturk newspaper.
Per the source, Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu snubbed the bid and told United they would have to return next summer for the Turkey international.
Agaoglu could be open to letting Yazici leave next season but is determined to keep the rising star at the club this term.
The Super Lig outfit also reportedly turned down a move from PSV for their star man.
Yazici has another four-years remaining on his contract and his club are under no pressure to sell.
Yazici has been linked with Premier League sides in the past.
The latest reports do come as a surprise. Turkish-Football has been informed that Yazici is keen on a summer exit, preferably to the Premier League.
It is worth remembering that the 21-year-old’s agent is Erkut Sogut, who also represents Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan.
Sogut has been offering his client out to several Premier League sides and raising the attacking midfielder’s profile.

Ozil himself has praised Yazici and likened the player to himself in a recent interview in Hurriyet newspaper: “I really like Trabzonspor duo Yusuf Yazici and Abdulkadir Omur, they are incredible talents.
“Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No 10.
“We have a lot of similarities and I myself in him.
“His left foot, his position, his close passing and calmness on the ball.
“We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the near future.”
The Turkey international has 18 goals and 18 assists in 66 appearances for Trabzonspor in all competition and nine international caps under his belt.
