Leicester City join Tottenham in race to sign Turkish teenage wonderkid

Leicester City have joined the race to sign Trabzonspor’s in-demand midfielder Abulkadir Omur.

The Turkey U21 international wonder-kid has attracted the attention of clubs across Europe following an impressive season for Trabzonspor.

Both Tottenham and Portuguese giants Benfica have been linked with a move for Omur over the past week.

Meanwhile, the Turkish outlet Fotomac state that Leicester have tabled an offer for the 19-year-old midfielder.

Per the source, the Foxes view Omur as a long-term replacement for Riyad Mahrez who joined Manchester City earlier this month.

Omur has already managed to establish himself as a first-team regular at Trabzonspor. The teenager scored three goals and provided six assists in 32 appearances during the 2017/18 season.

UEFA have likened the Trabzonspor wonder-kid to both Lionel Messi and Gheorghe Hagi. Omur was also included in the list of 60 of the best young talents in world football by the Guardian in 2016.

The 19-year-old has four-years remaining on his contract with the Black Sea based club.
