Newcastle United put sale of striker to Turkish giants on hold as they pursue £16.5m West Brom star

Newcastle United have put the sale of their star striker Alexander Mitrovic on hold according to a report from the Turkish press this morning.

The Serbia international has been closely linked with a move to Fenerbahce in recent weeks.

However, the daily sports newspaper Fanatik claim that Newcastle United will not sell Mitrovic until they sign a replacement.

Per the source, the Magpies are keen on signing West Brom Albion star Solomon Rondon this summer.

The report goes onto state that Newcastle United are prepared to activate Rondon’s £16.5 million release clause.

Fanatik go onto state that Fenerbahce already have an agreement in place with Newcastle to loan Mitrovic and are willing to wait until the Premier League side land a new striker.

Fulham are also understood to be interested in a move for Mitrovic this summer. The 24-year-old spent last season on loan with the London based club and helped them achieve promotion to the Premier League.
