Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce have been linked with a shock move for Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that Fenerbahce’s newly appointed director of football Damien Comolli is keen on signing Bakayoko on a season-long loan.
Per the source, Comolli has held talks with Chelsea for the France international who earns over €6 million per season.
Fanatik go onto state that Fenerbahce are only willing to cover part of the fee.
However, the story seems somewhat unlikely seeing that Chelsea signed Bakayoko for £40 million just 12 months ago.
Furthermore, Chelsea’s newly appointed manager Maurizio Sarri will surely want to have a good look at the midfielder closely before making a decision on his future.
Finally, Fenerbahce are being closely monitored by UEFA for Financial Fair play and are unlikely to be able to – even partially – cover the France international’s wages.
Bakayoko struggled during his first season in the Premier League following his move from Monaco. The 23-year-old provided three assists and scored three goals in 43 appearances for Chelsea during the 2017/18 season.
The former Stade Rennais midfielder was left out of Didier Deschamps’ France national team squad which won the 2018 World Cup.
