Olivier Giroud may be a Chelsea player but he still remembers his time in north London fondly.
The France international has revealed that he used to be teased by his former teammate Mesut Ozil during Arsenal training sessions.
Giroud told French outlet BMF TV that Ozil playfully boasted about Germany’s World Cup triumph back in 2014 to wind him up.
“I played with Germans at Arsenal and I was so jealous of them,” Giroud told BFM TV.
“Sometimes in the morning, Mesut Ozil would lose in training but he said ‘shh, shh, I’m world champion.”
Ozil played a starring role for Germany during their World Cup success in Brazil.
However, the 29-year-old went from hero to villain this summer following Germany’s disastrous World Cup campaign in Russia.
Joachim Low’s side crashed out of the competition in the group stage following defeats to Mexico and South Korea. Ozil was harshly singled out by the German press for the national team’s failings.
Meanwhile, Olivier Giroud lifted the World Cup with France earlier this summer following a win over Croatia in the final.
