Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has been given the chance to impress manager Jurgen Klopp after his surprise inclusion in the 29-man squad for the tour of the United States.

The Echo report that Markovic could receive playing times in the US as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri are not expected to play until the third and final game against Manchester United.

Per the source, it could still however, be too late for Markovic to save his Liverpool career.

The 24-year-old is into the final year on his contract but has yet to be offered a new deal.

Markovic put on an impressive performance in a friendly against Blackburn Rovers and even scored a goal.

The winger had a disappointing loan spell with Anderlecht in the second half of last season and has also been loaned to Hull City, Sporting Lisbon and Fenerbahce over the past seasons.

Markovic could be returning to Turkey according to reports in Turkey.

Fotomac reported that the Yellow Canaries are keen on the winger returning on loan or a free transfer.

The Markovic case is being processed by the FIFA Players Status Committee and the Reds stand to be paid €367,808 pending the outcome.

Fenerbahce disclosed the details of all ongoing cases the club is involved in a statement on the Public Disclosure Platform.
