Hector Bellerin has come out in defence of his Arsenal teammate Mesut Ozil following his decision to retire from international football.
The Spanish international revealed he was perplexed that someone who has done so much for his country could be treated as he has been.
Surreal that someone who has done so much for his country on and off the pitch has been treated with such disrespect. Well done @MesutOzil1088 for standing up to this behaviour! //t.co/w1dvWOHFYN

Ozil did, of course, play an important role in Germany winning the 2014 World Cup.
The 29-year-old was a five-time Germany Player of the Year and won the 2010 Bambi award for his efforts to integrate into German society.
The playmaker of Turkish origin feels he was forced into retiring from the Germany national side due to racism and disrespect.
