Liverpool Strike 3-Year Deal In Principle With World Cup Finalist, £22.4m Transfer Set To Go Ahead But Everton Plan To Hijack Move

Liverpool have been persistently linked with Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida in the Turkish media.

A Spor are now reporting that the Reds have reached a deal in principle with the Croatia international.

Per the source, the Premier League side have reached an agreement with Vida over a two-year deal with the option to extend his contract by an additional season.

Besiktas meanwhile are prepared to sell the defender should their £22.4m asking price be matched.

The Reds move could however, be hijacked by Everton and West Ham who have submitted a request to Besiktas for talks over the defender.

Vida looks certain to leave over the summer after being transfer listed by Besiktas.

PSG have also been linked but the Croatia international is keen on a Premier League move.

The 29-year-old has not been included in the squad submitted to UEFA of the Europa League playoff clash against B36 Torshavn.

The centre-back saw his value increase over the course of the World Cup.

Vida started every game for Croatia, scoring in the quarter-final against Russia and providing an assist against France in the final.

Vida also made The Guardian Team of the Tournament.

Besiktas signed Vida on a free transfer from Dynamo Kiev in January and he does have another four-years remaining on his deal.

The defender has a wealth of European competition experience making 24 appearances in Champions League and 29 in the Europa League.

Vida scored one goal in 13 Super Lig games for the Black Eagles last season.
