AC Milan are currently taking on Premier League outfit Tottenham in the International Champions Cup on Wednesday 1 August at the US Bank Stadium, Minneapolis at 01:30 BST.
The Italian giants lost their last game in the friendly tournament 9-8 on penalties to Manchester United.
Gennaro Gattuso did give Turkey international Hakan Calhanoglu the nod against Spurs.
There were rumours that the attacking midfielder was going to be rested and replaced by Borini.
Calhanoglu played the full 90 minutes against United but has kept his place in the side.
Borini did also start out wide with Cutrone upfront.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino meanwhile had seven central midfielders out heading into the game.
Nine of the Spurs first team in total made the World Cup semi-final and did not make the squad.
