Turkish giants face compeititon from Newcastle and West Ham for Mexico international star

Fenerbahce are locked in a race with Newcastle United and West Ham to sign Mexico international defender Diego Reyes.

According to the daily Turkish newspaper Sabah, the Yellow Canaries haven’t given up hopes of signing the former FC Porto centre-back.

However, the report states that they are likely to face major competition from both Newcastle and West Ham. Meanwhile, Ligue 1 side Bordeaux are also interested in signing the defender.

Reyes is available for free this summer after his contract with the Portuguese giants expired.

According to CalcioMercato, Newcastle United have been in talks with the Mexican defender and are close to agreeing a deal.

The 25-year-old missed the 2018 world cup due to a hamstring injury.

Fenerbahce are keen to bolster their defensive options over the summer. However, the Yellow Canaries are being closely monitored by UEFA for Financial Fair Play, making the possibility of singing Reyes on a free even more attractive.
