Manchester United have been given fresh hope of signing £65m rated Leicester City defender Harry Maguire after the Foxes move for Filip Benkovic of Dynamo Zagreb and Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu according to The Times.
Per the source, the combined fee for both players will be £33.5m.
Croatia Under-21 international Filip Benkovic underwent a medical on Monday ahead of a £13.5m switch from Dinamo.
Leicester are also on the verge of striking a transfer deal worth £22.5m including add-ons for Freiburg centre-back Caglar Soyuncu.
The Foxes would be getting Soyuncu for a fraction of the price that was quoted to Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.
Freiburg wanted £35m for the 22-year-old centre-back.
Soyuncu’s agent Mustafa Dogru did state that Arsenal expressed an interest in his client
“Reports claiming Caglar or I saying a deal has been struck with Arsenal are false,“Dogru recently told Turkish-Football.
“Arsenal have not held official talks with us, Sven Mislintat is keen on him but we are currently not in direct negotiations with the club.
“We have made it clear to Freiburg that Caglar wants to leave over the summer.
“Clubs from England, Spain and Italy have expressed an interest but they have to reach an agreement with Freiburg first.”
The Manchester Evening News recently reported that Soyuncu is one of several players being targeted by Manchester United.
The eight-man United shortlist: Raphael Varane, Jerome Boateng, Kalidou Koulibaly, Toby Alderweireld, Milan Skriniar, Alessio Romagnoli, Jose Gimenez and Soyuncu.
