Manchester United could miss out on signing Harry Maguire despite Leicester City signing Caglar Soyuncu.
Turkish-Football reported yesterday that the Foxes have completed the transfer of Soyuncu on a five-year deal after striking a £20m agreement with Freiburg.
The arrival of Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic were rumored to be replacements for Maguire who was tipped to join United.
Leicester have however, made it clear that the England international is not for sale.
Head coach Claude Puyol said: “I can confirm Harry is going to Manchester… but only for a couple of hours tomorrow.”
Sky Sports reported Rob Dorsett meanwhile, underlined that Soyuncu is not a replacement for Maguire.
#lcfc closing in on possible £20m deal for Turkish international defender Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg. He’s won 15 full international caps for Turkey, and so Leicester are confident a work permit won’t be a problem.
Categorically NOT a replacement for Maguire, I’m told. #mufc— Rob Dorsett (@RobDorsettSky) August 8, 2018
United continue to be linked with the defender but time is running out to get a deal over the line as the transfer window shuts at 17:00 GMT tonight.
Soyuncu and Maguire would be expected to be centre-back partners for Leicester next season should the England defender stay at the club.
The Turkey international is expected to be officially announced by Leicester City imminently.
